The Australian government has announced the given changes for the temporary visa during the Coronavirus situation:
Visitor Visa holders
- The visitor visa lasts for 3 months and the applicants with this visa are advised to return to their home country.
Ideally, you should consult the migration agent as they have proper knowledge about the current changes and what essential steps you need to take.
International student visa holders
- Students need to rely on family support, arrange for part-time work, and get support through their savings.
- Students who have been in Australia for one year and cannot cover the finances, they can access the Australian superannuation.
- Due to COVID-19, international students will have flexibility in situations like where they cannot attend the classes.
- From 1st May, the extended working hours will be returned to normal situations like 40 hours maximum a fortnight.
Working visa holders
- The working visa holders who are working in health sectors to help the aged or disabled, childcare, and agriculture & food processing will be exempted from the limitation of 6 months. They are eligible to apply for a further visa and keep on working in this critical time
- In case, the working holiday visa holders feel that they cannot survive the next 6 months in this pandemic then they should go back to their home country.
New Zealanders with 444 visa
- The ones who came before 26th February 2001 on the 444 visas can get access to the Jobkeeper and welfare payments.
- But the ones who arrived after 2001, cannot get access to the Jobseeker and other welfare payments.
- It is best the New Zealanders get back to New Zealand if they cannot support themselves through the family or work support.
Temporary Skilled visa holders
- The temporary visa holders who are stood down will be able to maintain the visa and under normal circumstances, they can extend the visa. This will also have the number of hours reduced without the need for breaching the visa condition.
- The visa holders will be able to access $10,000 of the financial year.
- The temporary visa holders need to leave the country due to COVID-19. Due to the existing condition, it is possible that a new sponsor is not available.
