However, a small number of places are given to the State and Territories, and slowly they are resuming the migration program and giving the necessary updates which are going to bring up the economy after a pandemic. More places have been given to Subclass 190/491 visas, and there is hope more places will come soon. Subclasses 190 and 491 updates by State and Territory
Australian Capital Territory
The Australian Capital Territory is for the applicants onshore. However, there are few restrictions on the total number of nominations available along with eligibility criteria on both the visa types.
With this, there is a new Skill list which is going to support Canberra skills to recover the economy. Applicants need to have the occupations on this list or they should hold the subclass 457 or 482 which are sponsored by ACT employers.
Northern Territory
For the subclass 190 or 491, the onshore application can be lodged in the NT. However, the program is closed for nomination till the time 2020-2021 budget is announced.
New South Wales
The skilled migration program was opened by NSW on 31st August and there are a limited number of nomination places. Invitation rounds will commence shortly for the subclass 190 visa nomination. But the applications will be for selected health, engineering occupations, and ICT. Re-submission is not allowed if you have a valid EOI.
Queensland
In Queensland, skilled Migration programs are still closed.
South Australia
The skilled migration program is open in SA, and it has limited nominations. Some of the major requirement includes:
- Meet the minimum requirement for points, English levels, and age.
- The selected occupation should be on the Skilled migration occupation list, and skill assessment needs to be positive.
- Applicants need to be working in South Australia for three months in the relevant occupation for at least 20 hours in a week or 40 hours per fortnight.
Western Australia
WA State Nominated Migration Program has been suspended on 21st August and till further notice, invitations won’t be issued. You can stay updated on the changes with our migration agent. They can even tell you about the necessary documents and prepare the EOI to apply for the visa.
Tasmania
Currently, Tasmania is open for 190 and 491 visa applications. But only those nominations will be considered in which the applicants have the necessary skills to support the economy. Further updates will be there in October.
Victoria
Victoria is preparing the further nomination requirement to support the economy in a better way. Additionally, the state has announced to open the migration program from 8th September, but they have a set target, and their nomination is limited.
